He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Binghamton University. Matthew has a passion for playing music and in his free time, plays an instrument called the euphonium.
It was a productive summer as an Alliant intern! I got to see what it is like working in data science and enjoyed applying what I’ve learned in my classes to the “real world” – all while meeting some wonderful people along the way.
As my first in-person internship, I gained hands-on experience in different data science concepts. I worked on novel approaches to optimize models, explored ways to measure feature importance, and became much more familiar in Python packages such as NumPy, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch. I also learned the Alliant process for look-alike model development and researched ideas to enhance the processes, with the opportunity to test them.
I accomplished a lot during my time at Alliant. Some of my favorite projects include:
Among many things, Alliant is dedicated to their own and their peers’ success. It is a very collaborative culture. Everyone was always happy to help me, and each other, even in new and/or challenging situations. Also, the size of the team is perfect. Not too small, but small enough that you often interact with people across various teams. Thank you so much to everyone at Alliant for making this such a wonderful experience!
