OTT, Privacy, and Cookies are hot topics at 2020’s winter events

2020 is ramping up (pun intended), and Alliant’s digital team has been busy attending AdExchanger’s Industry Preview and IAB’s Annual Leadership Meeting. After two insightful events, Alliant is proud to sponsor a third industry get-together; LiveRamp’s RampUp. Our team will be in San Francisco March 1 – 3, continuing conversations about 2020’s most pressing challenges. Couldn’t make it to the first two industry events? Here are top takeaways from Chris Morse, Alliant’s Director of Digital Partnerships:

A Cookie-less future

Project Rearc – IAB’s response to Google’s announcement of plans to eliminate third party cookies in 2022 – was unveiled during ALM. Q1’s digital events have been buzzing about the future of advertising in a post-cookie world, with many in agreement that the industry will have to work together to develop an alternative. Alliant believes that properly-sourced PII data will be part of the solution.

A shift in OTT trends

Advertising-based video on demand (AVOD) such as YouTube, is demonstrating growth compared to subscription video on demand (SVOD), streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, etc. Consumers have accepted the ad supported model but prefer their content uninterrupted. What’s next for OTT? There is speculation that Netflix may roll out an ad supported option in the next few years.

A push for privacy

With CCPA having gone into effect last month, it’s no surprise that privacy regulations continue to be a concern. IAB’s ALM pushed for leaders to support Privacy for America – an industry coalition whose goal is privacy regulation on a national level. Alliant is proud to join IAB in support for Privacy for America, as consumer privacy is a daily priority for our team.

We are looking forward to hearing speakers at RampUp address these themes. If OTT, privacy, and cookies are important for your business goals, you won’t want to miss the following sessions in San Francisco:
